Julie Mead

(owner and designer of www.e-scapeandscrap.net)

Julie has a passion for creating.  From her garden to her sketch pad, from the kitchen to her camera, she enjoys the process of creating at all levels.  Julie has also been fascinated with technology and all the cool things it can do for her.    Combining these two passions, creating and computer technology, has led her to discover the joy of digital scrapbooking.  Julie began paper scrapping 10 years ago to capture the joys her children brought into her life.  During the fall of 2003 she picked up a magazine that talked about a new hobby, digiscrapping.  After surfing many sites, Julie discovered that she had a passion for this new and interesting hobby.  Then, during the summer of 2004 her mind began to turn to thoughts of creating her own backgrounds and elements.  She developed her first CD called "Julie Mead's From Girly to Grungy" and began to research how to promote her first product.  On a whim, she decided to open her own website and see if she could sell her products online.  Julie gave herself one year to see if her new site, E-scape and Scrap, would be a success.  She has been thrilled at the the reception her online boutique has recieved in the digital scrapping world.   But more importantly, she has enjoyed meeting people from around the world, many have become friends she keeps in close contact.  The year, 2008, will mark the beginning of E-scape and Scrap's fifth year in business.

Julie has 2 grown children, a daughter and a son, and one grandson.  She has been married to her husband for 29 years.  Her family loves to get together as often as possible.  Julie is a full-time kindergarten teacher in her small rural community.  Running her online boutique is a challenge but one that she thorougly enjoys.  You can also find her designs at www.acherryontop.com and www.cottagearts.net .  She was part of a team of designers that created a memory book for the TV show, Extreme Makeover:  Home Edition.  Her work has been published in numerous magazines.  She has also had an article published in the Digital Scrapbooking Magazine.   In the summer of 2005 she was a featured digital artist in the magazine, Simply Sentiments.

Julie currently serves on the advisory board for Scrapbook Dimensions Magazine, where digital and paper come together as hybrid scrapping.

Kay Eflin

(designer at www.e-scapeandscrap.net)

Kay and collage were meant for each other combining years of creative hobbies into one expressionÑdigital scrapbooks. She is a self-taught DIP diva who first discovered digital scrapping when she began converting 35mm slides into photos for her daughterÕs surprise birthday album. She prefers the paper scrap look in both her design work and digital layouts. Kay loves scrapping heritage photos of family because they have a tie to the past, and the pictures of her grandchildren point to the future. When Kay lost her husband suddenly last year, she began scrapping and journaling immediately to help her through the grieving process and has found a way to assist others in honoring their loved ones as well. As a digital designer, sheÕs an idea person and works well in a team where she contributes to the overall success of a project. Kay is the proud mother of three adult children and three grandchildren. Her company, Kollage by Kay, creates digital scrapbooks for local clients and has become a satisfying home-based business. Her two daughters, Pam and Sarah, both share her love of scrapbooking and often contribute to her creative efforts. Her hobbies include reading, travel, creative writing and enjoying the beautiful mountains near her home in Denver.

Karen Aicken

(designer and creative team member)

Karen's Blog:   www.alteredscrapbooking.com

Karen Aicken has been involved in the paper arts for over 16 years. She is an avid rubber stamper (still her first crafting love) and has been paper scrapbooking for over six years. She started digital scrapbooking in the summer of 2004 Ð and hasnÕt looked back since. Karen loves the freedom it allows, the fact that there is no mess to clean up, and no scraps to deal with (since she hates to throw out paper bits, and has a huge stash in her studio). She never likes to use up that Ôlast piece of pretty paperÕ on a project, in case a different project would make better use of it. With digital, you never run out of that paper Ð so Karen uses more layers and papers than she ever did with her paper scrapbooking. Not worrying about Ôrunning outÕ has really changed her creative focus, and she describes it as Òextremely freeing for meÓ. Now she is developing a line of digital stamps, so she can continue with her stamping arts in this exciting medium of digital.

Karen has participated in mail art and swaps since she started stamping, and is now involved in swapping ATCs (Artist Trading Cards). She enjoys that she can use stamps, collage, digital or any combination thereof to create these mini works of art, and that they are limited editions.

Karen is a mother to 3 (almost grown) kids, and has a very supportive husband of 23 years. He built her a wonderful studio to house her rubber stamp collection and paper supplies! They have 2 dogs, and enjoy camping in the beautiful Rocky Mountains during the summer months in Alberta (Canada) where they live.

Pam Eflin

(creative team member)

This Colorado native began paper scrapping nine years ago, but when she latched on to her mother's enthusiasm for a new hobby her mom had found, Pam quickly discovered the fun of digital scrapping instead.  Although she doesn't paper scrap anymore, her style leans towards the paper style with clean lines--all layouts are created using DIP9.  Pam recently pursued a long-time dream to learn floral design--she was trained this past fall and in December became certified as a designer.  She now hopes to develop her skills with part time work. In the meantime, Pam continues to work for a library district where she's been employed for eighteen years.  Other areas of interest for her are museums, local history, and ice hockey (as a spectator!)  And of course, she loves being an auntie to Tess, Noah and Lacey!

Erica Nunez

(creative team member)

Erica Jessica Nunez, 35 yrs old (12/28/1971), married to Pablo since November 2001; with three little angels, Francisco 8, Marina 6, Emily 4, She lives in Miami Lakes , Florida.
She was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador. While living there she worked for 10 years as an assistant manager in a company that sells generators and engines. While working there she met her husband. Shortly after that she came to the USA on March 10, 2002.
She has been digiscrapping since January 2005, but before that she was a paper scrapper.  She developed this hobby when her sister-in-law, who was at the time a consultant for a scrapbooking company, gave her a present for her upcoming baby girl, Emily. It was a mini kit to make a little album, and she hooked up with paper for a while.
After doing some research on the computer about die cuts and new backgrounds she discovered a web site with the words DIGITAL SCRAPBOOKING. It immediately caught her attention and she started reading and checking other sites. That's how her real passion was born.  She didn't have any previous experience designing layouts on the computer , but she taught herself and did a lot of reaading and researching.  She started designing with Microsoft Picture it 7.0, and a new hobby began. Right now she only designs with Microsoft digital Image Suite Edition 2006.  It was an experience that she'll never forget. Her style is very simple and free. She likes to get her inspiration for a layout with the kit itself by using the colors or with the pictures too. For her, designing layouts is her PASSION.

Judy Wolfram

(creative team member)

Judy and her husband Eric live in Texas and have two grown sons who are both married, one with a son and the other with a daughter. After several years of designing cards and invitations, Judy discovered the world of digital scrapbooking. It was a natural fit. Her favorite subjects include her family (especially the grandchildren!), her dogs and granddogs, and nature and travel scenes. She also loves the use of Scripture and other quotes to encourage people. While busy scrapping the grandchildren now, she hopes to one day get albums done of her children while they were growing up.

Lisa Campbell

(creative team member)

Starting digital scrapping in June of 2005, after deciding to start paper scrapping and accidently picking up a digital scrapping magazine, Lisa (aka scoobie81) never even got out the paper supplies she had purchased! Lisa prefers simple, uncluttered layouts and works to try new techniques as well as some artsy looks.

Lisa's originally from Montana and now resides outside of Seattle, WA with her husband of 32 years. Her 2 children have provided her with 3 grandchildren (and 3 extended grandkids) that give her lots of material for scrapping!  Always being creative, she's done all forms of painting, pottery, stained glass, ceramics, needle crafts, and sewing since 9 years old. Besides the creative side, Lisa also rides her Arabians, scuba dives, bike rides, loves to read and travel. She's been a real estate broker for many years and is currently also working on an e-commerce project.

Lynn Weber

(creative team member)

Lynn is a hobby person. Through the years she has dabbled in a multitude of arts and crafts-quilting, furniture refinishing, cake decorating, candlemaking, counted cross-stitch, knitting, macramŽ (remember that, quilling, sewing, photo developing, paintingÉwell, you get the idea! She began paper scrapping about eight years ago but, when she discovered digital scrapping in November of  2004, all the other hobbies were forgotten! Most of her layouts have a paper scrapped look but she likes to try new things too. She uses PSE 4.0 and is trying to convert to PSCS.

Lynn has been married to Dick for 36 years. She recently retired after 25 years as a first grade teacher. She is looking forward to having much more time to spend with her five grown children and seven grandchildren, none of whom live in her state, Ohio! Her laptop accompanies her all around the country so she can keep up with her scrapping! Lynn also recently acquired a Canon Digital Rebel and is hoping to improve her photography skills so she has better photos to scrap!

Joanne Paquette

(designer and creative team member)

Joanne lives in Australia and feels very blessed to live in such a beautiful place.  She has been married for 24 years and has 2 lovely girls named Naomi and Emily.  Her husband is American and Australian (the best of both worlds!)  They live in a small coastal town with a small population,  They spend most of their free time in the great outdoors enjoying the beautiful coast.  Everything they do involves water such as fishing, diving, and just being lazy on the beach.  She has been digital scrapping for about a year and loves the freedom it allows such as changing things to suit the layout.  She is also an artist and paints photorealism.  She does color consulting for her job along with decorative painting.  She loves her life and everything that is around her.  She feels very blessed, indeed!

(creative team member)

I am 44 and married for 21 years and have  3 boys 16, 13 and 3! most of my layouts are about the 3 year old! The 16 and 13 year olds donÕt like having pictures taken and donÕt do cute stuff like the baby!! I live just outside phoenix, arizona where it's always sunny!! but grew up in rainy washington. I work full time at a local newspaper (actually we print 2 weekly papers) doing the layout! Besides scrapbooking I love to read!

Egle Noel

(creative team member)

Hi! My name is Egle Noel. I have lived all my life in Illinois, and currently reside in a western suburb of Chicago with my husband and two children.
I had quit my job around the New Year just before my son was to start kindergarten. That gave me some time to hang out with my kids before school got into the picture. I volunteer at my daughter's school only this year (as I took a break from running around like last year). I do look forward to summer break, though, just like they do!

I have been paper scrapping since Memorial Day 1999, I believe and started digital scrapping Mother's Day weekend 2006. Since I started digital scrapping, I have only made 2 paper layouts. I THINK I AM ADDICTED! It all started with my wanting to try and learn something new. I wanted to challenge myself. My husband surprised me by buying Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 for Macintosh. I would have to say trying to make my first layout was a rather humbling experience. My friend, Sharon, was an awesome teacher and guided me through my beginning steps. I now use PSE 4.0 (Macs) and maybe one day can persuade him to buy the professional series one...as I would love to be able to design my own kits!

Ruth Davis

(designer and creative team member)

With her hands always in some kind of art, Ruth graduated from college with an Advertising Art diploma in 1981. Married with two children, she resides in a small town in southwestern Ontario, Canada. After paper scrapping for two years, she discovered the world of digital and has never looked back. Creating layouts has become a passionate hobby. Unaware of the direction a layout will take, Ruth gets lost in the moment and totally enjoys the process of creating by the minute, experimenting with the different effects and watching the layout grow. She enjoys making layouts of her children as well as heritage layouts from the many photos she is grateful to have. Although other hobbies for Ruth include watercolour, pencil drawing and wood carving, she admits that digital scrapping has taken over. Once a week throughout the winter, you can find her playing ice hockey at a local arena. Currently Ruth works for the local newspaper doing advertising design.

Glenda Swinford

(creative team member)

I am a single, working mom of a beautiful four year old handful (and waiting on referral for a second adoption any day now). Emi is typically the main focus of both my camera lens and scrapbook pages; she provides a great source of inspiration for both. Besides digital scrapbooking, I enjoy sewing, machine embroidery, knitting, cross-stitch, needlepoint, and stained glass. I typically have more than one project going on at any given time.

I've been scrapbooking for several years and converted to digital scrapping in January 2006 after joining Corel as their Digital Imaging Program Manager. I had to learn Paint Shop Pro; what better way to learn than to start scrapbooking digitally. Honestly, it's one of the most enjoyable artistic outlets that I've ever found. I love the freedom of working digitally--you can crop your photos, mirror them, clean them up, blur the background, change colors; you can use papers (and photos) over and over and over, tear them and paint on them and still have a full, clean sheet to use another day. And there's no mess to clean up when you're done! What can be better than that?

Jackie Rushing

(creative team member)

Jackie is 25 years old and has one wonderful 2 year old boy.  You will see him in most of her work.  Her friends would describe her as funny, outgoing, and wacky (but in a good way).  She works in the full time avionics technology industry.  But her real passion is anything creative.  She dabbles in writting, painting, crafting and of course scrapbooking.  She started paper scrapping shortly before her son was born in 2004.  While she enjoyed being able to preserve her memories in a creative fashion, it started to become difficult to actually get anything done as her son became more and more active.  While shopping online for paper supplies she started reading about digital scrapbooking.  Since she was always in to technology, she thought it sounded like something she would really like.  That was in May of 2005, and she was instantly hooked and never looked back.  She still makes cards, other altered items, and a few layouts here and there, but digital is her main medium.  Her style would mostly be described as clean and blocky, but she continously tries to think outside of her box.

Hi every one. I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and have been married for 21 years to my wonderful husband, Ken. I have two children Dylan and Brittney. I worked for 15 years as a Medical Laboratory Technologist and am now a SAHM.  Being at home allowed me to dabble in many crafts but I found my passion when I bought a copy of PSE3. Originally I wanted to improve my photos for slide shows I created but soon realized artistic aspects of the program. In the fall of 2006 I discovered digital scrapbooking and was hooked. I love being able to showcase my photography in layouts and love the artistic expression it provides. I have had an article published in the Photoshop Elements Techniques (Vol 4 No. 3) and am currently working on another article to be published later in the year. I regret that I didnÕt know about this when my children were little; they are now teenagers so getting pictures of them is challenging.

Well I am a paper scrapper at heart, but I LOVE digi and have been addicted since July 06 when my sister got me started and introduced me to it! I'm also a part of the wonderful digi CT over at A Cherry On Top since May 07.
I have been in the Navy since Jan 1991 and looking to retire in 2011 to Portland OR (where DH's family lives). I've been to quite a few places and landed in Oak Harbor WA (where I am currently stationed).I am a Navy Corpsman 1st, but a lab tech by trade and since leaving the lab about a year ago, I am working in the patient admissions dept (by my choice) and really like it, nice change of pace for me...

I have 4 great kids (most of the time!)...DD Sam (14) DS Ben (6) DD Abby Lou (18 mos) and little Peyton (5 weeks)...so if you're wondering, I am DONE...at almost 37 (b-day 8/27/70) I don't think I can do it anymore! DH and I have been married since Dec 19, 1992.
Most of my LO's are of little Abby Lou and now Peyton...it's not that I am neglecting my other children, they don't seem to like the camera too well, but when I can catch them, I do scrap them...if you check out my gallery you will see all of them!

I LOVE (Prima) flowers, eyelets and brads whether I am paper or digi scrapping! I also scrap mostly 12 x 12 unless it is a gift album...
While stationed in Sigonella Italy from 2000 to 2003, my son was born there and has dual citizenship and traveled to some of the best parts of the world...Rome, Floerence, Tuscany, London, Stonehenge, Paris and of coarse around Sicily...and if I could go back, I would jump at the chance tomorrow! Hope to one day get the millions of pictures I took scrapped from over there!!! Until then I will be working on my yearly albums and the 500 pictures I just took on our trip to Disney in March 2007!

Carol Opalinski

(creative team member)

Carol and her husband, John, live in Chattanooga, TN. They have two sons, Alex, a student at Middle Tennessee State University and Michael, a high school student. They also have two cats, Kitty and Ping, who are often the subject of Carol's photos and layouts as they are slightly more cooperative than her sons. Carol started digiscrapping two years ago with a Scrap Book program from Walmart and was instantly hooked but outgrew the program in less than a month. At the urging of her sons she began learning Photoshop, an ongoing process to this day. Albeit with a little less head banging than in the beginning. Besides her family and digiscrapping, Carol's other interests include photography, cross stitching and folk art painting. To help support her crafting habits, Carol works part time as an administrative assistant in a small United Methodist church.

Edeena Cross

(creative team member)

Born and raised in Canberra, Australia, Edeena is 37, married to a very patient Englishman who has transplanted very well, and they have a live-wire four year old daughter, two moggies and an ex-show dog Shetland Sheepdog (Sheltie). They have a very hectic time juggling EdeenaÕs full-time career and her husbandÕs small business (which is more than full-time as all other small business owners will vouch!), and this year their daughter starts pre-school two days a week. Lots of material for photos and layouts lie ahead!

Edeena has only been digital-scrapping since May 2007, and she is still finding her way around her program of choice (Lumapix FotoFusion). She has tried the paper-scrapping thing, but found that she couldnÕt bear to waste all the wonderful things she was buying Ð particularly as she wasnÕt very good. Philosophically, she expects that all those punches and papers will come in handy when her daughter does craft in school. Edeena also loved the look of layers, but couldnÕt bear the bulk of it in an albumÉ digital scrapping has been wonderful Ð itÕs flat (great for albums) and she can layer away to her heartÕs content! Best of all, if she makes a mistake she can start over again (her favourite button is undo)!

You can read more about Edeena and her creative style on her blog:

Kelly Sauvage

(design team member)

I'm a 37 year old mom of 3 terrific boys. My wonderful husband and I have been married for 11 years. We live in Kansas, but I still have a lot of family who resides in Pennsylvania. I am an animal lover almost to a fault. My husband knows I can't turn any animal away, so we tend to accumulate critters and take care of them until we find them suitable homes. Right now we have a dog, 3 cats and a ferret. We enjoy watching the wildlife in our backyard too.

In 2004, I purchased Photoshop with the intent of making backdrops for my kids photos. It wasn't long after that I was introduced to something called "digital scrapbooking". I was instantly hooked from that moment on. I started making my own designs in 2005 and upgraded to PSCS2 a year ago.

My style is more on the realistic/vintage side, but I do venture into other styles as my tastes change and I find new things I like. When I'm not designing or making layouts, I'm spending time with my family. I use every chance I get to take pictures of my kids, nature and landscapes. I purchased a Canon Rebel XT at the end of 2007, so I have been experimenting with different settings and new techniques. I feel I am growing in the photography area even if it's at a slow rate. In addition to being part of the family here at Nifty Boutique, I also maintain my own website Digital Resource Heaven.

One of the things I find truely amazing is that I have made so many friends though the digital scrapbooking community. I have even met a few of them in person! It has been such a rewarding experience for me.

Katherine Lent

(creative team member)

My name is Katherine Lent. I am 43, a SAHM to my 4 and a half year old Corinne, who is almost finished with her two years of Chemotherapy! She was diagnosed with with Leukemia at two and a half. I have been married to Adam for 5 years. I also have two older daughters from previous marriages. Annalea is 15 and Hali is 11. I love Horror and Sci-Fi movies. I love 'Gothic Rock' mostly, but so much more, 80's, showtunes, and even Bluegrass. I love gardening and scrapping.

We are from Long Island NY, and are currently living there, in Bellport. In previous lives I worked with Apple Computer in sales & marketing, was a floral designer, a counselor in group homes and even a bar tender! My husband runs his own telecom business providing courtesy phone systems in airports and banks.

I began to scrapbook when Corinne was born in 2003. I thought I would just do a baby book. Then I was hooked! I spent a small fortune and filled my office to the brim with supplies! Then I met a friend and designer on line, Nikki Painter (Scrap with Nikki), who inspired me to digi scrap with her fresh and clean designs. It suddenly seemed 'do-able'!

I have been digi scrapping since the beginning of 2006. I did over 200 layouts in just the first couple months! I am so happy scrapping digi because I get so much done and save so much money. I also have the time and freedom to experiment and I think my scrapping has benefited from that.

Ingeborg (ikscrap)

(design team member)

I am Ingeborg (ikscrap). I am married, have 1 son, 2 daughters (twins) who are all teenagers. We also have a dog, a cat and 3 hamsters.

I live near the water in a little place in Holland. With a large garden where I can take beautiful pictures.

I feel inspired by almost everything when I design kits or layouts.

I have been digiscrapping since 2003 and decorated my photo albums before I knew they called it scrapping.

In September 2006 I discovered all the sites on the internet and found wonderful friends.

From that moment everything went fast, I joined a few CT's and in January 2007 then I put my first kit in a Dutch shop.

I love to work with computers and be creative. I always have a thousand ideas

I love reading, writing and gardening. I find lots of things interesting and I never feel bored.
I hope you have some fun with my kits, I sure had fun making them.

I have always had a creative streak, and over the years dabbled in one hobby or other. I discovered digital scrapbooking in April 2005 and this has been the one creative activity that never ever bores me! Perhaps that is because I can combine it with photography, another great passion of mine. I have some friends who paper scrapbook, and they often encourage me to go to crops with them. I must admit that I tried but I just canÕt do paper layouts. Digital scrapbooking is limitless, and there are things I can do on a digital page that I just canÕt replicate on paper. I do like to get my hands into paper, glue, ribbons and other bits of pretty things for card making and some hybrid digital projects now and again. But first and always, creating scrapbook pages on my computer is my favorite thing to do when I get a little free time.

I live in Kentucky, and I am mother to 3 grown children, and grandmother to 5 handsome boys and 2 beautiful little girls. I live very close to all of them, and see them frequently and never without my camera in my hands!

Shannon Purcell

(creative team member)

Married to Devin since March 2008 and no children yet. Born and raised in Los Angeles area of Southern California but now living in the San Francisco Bay area of Northern California. I work full time at a company that provides interpretation and translation services to several hospitals, doctors as well as city and county officials. Prior to this job I spent 12 years in the mortgage industry reaching my final goal of being a mortgage Underwriter. I also work part time on an occassional weekend at elaborate children's birthday parties just to get out of the house. I started paper scrapbooking about 10 years ago but didn't have an interest in digital scrapbooking until March 2008 and have been addicted to it ever since! I've always enjoyed doing some type of creative project whether it be scrapbooking, altering something, photography or art work. Genealogy is what really got me started with scrapbooking. At one point I was a CM Consultant but it wasn't my style so I couldn't sell it and decided to really try to find my own style. However, I didn't really discover my style until digi scrapping and it's been described as whimsical and classic. I don't know...you tell me. ;)
In addition to digi scrapping (and paper, haven't given it up just yet) I also have a passion for photography and hope to get a new camera besides just my Canon PowerShot SD1000 Digital Elph. I have my eye on the Canon EOS Digital SLR. I often have the best times out alone just shooting ramdon photographs. Other than that, DH and I have a great time wine tasting, enjoying good food and art. And hopefully one day we can start a family to give me something new to scrapbook.
